Amazon Delivery Rumour

Amazon Delivery Rumour

Amazon Delivery Rumour

A few clicks here and a few clicks there and you can get almost anything delivered to your home, from anywhere around the world. But isn’t delivery a pain in the a## at times!

A pair of chopsticks from China maybe or how about a new watch from Switzerland? It can make it’s way half way around the world but the final drop off is usually the sticking point and can add so much to the indirect costs. You can spend an entire day waiting in to receive your parcel, just to find a delivery note on your doorstep when you pop out for just 5 minutes. How annoying!

But Amazon may have an answer!

The e-tailing giant is apparently developing a mobile app that would pay the chap down the road to deliver your parcel.

Yes Bob from down the road becomes your new delivery man!

It’s the latest in a long list of schemes to cut the costs of one of the most expensive and unreliable parts of the Amazon business model, namely doorstep delivery. This App is set to help Amazon use inefficiencies in the delivery market to their advantage.

Stroke of genius?

Apparently (if it’s true) the Amazon team refer to this new neighbourhood delivery program as ‘On My Way’ and they’re currently ironing out the bugs in the App before considering a role-out.

Our office have been debating whether this is a good idea or a bad idea. It certainly gets around those horrible delivery time issues, it also gives Bob a few extra pennies in his pocket. But what if Bob or his wife are the nosey types? Some items have a very distinct shape and feel, they don’t require much guessing do they!

Do you really want Bob second guessing your purchase?

What do you think? Do you love the idea or do you hate it, please let us know.
